Hi guys,
Just wondering if there would be any adverse effects of extending the wires running from the board to the antenna? or would it be better to run the rs232 signal over a long cable?

Confused by your question, signal from the antenna is not RS232.
The longer the wire from the board to the antenna, the larger the noise is.
