Hello, I am very new to Arduino.
I am currently using the grove base shield to connect a number of sensors and buttons in pins A0, D2 and D8. I would like to stack another shield on top but do not want use the same pins.
If I am only using pins A0,D2 and D8, does that mean the Grove Base Shield is only using those pins? or is the base shield using all the pins shown on it at all times?.
Apologies if the question sounds novice, I am very new to Arduino.

You will use what you plug on the shield. and you can use the reset pins by other functions. thanks.
The Base Shield is just a tool for you to connect the circuit more easily. And the connection of the circuit depends on youself.
