Linux on Raspberry Pi

Post by contact8 » Fri Feb 19, 2016 2:46 am

Hi,

I'm also working on Mac OS X(lion) and waiting for an easy way to dev on this platform.
I get some Raspberry too, the A, the B, the B+ and the 2.

I finally get a working sim this morning (rife on Reunion Island for the records) and started asking myself how can I make this open phone a personal phone?
The question and ideas come easy, but the solutions sounded a little bit more complicated.
So Robarago how can I get your IDE and will it works on Raspbian?
And devs please think different... Or a least open...

Thank you for opening the phone to the world.

Hi,

Please, try Stefan Mandl approach for both problems.
He provided a nice upload tool and simple instructions on how to get started with a basic cross toolchain. He even provides an example Makefile for those not wanting to use the Arduino IDE.

Regards,
Roberto.

Hi,

Thanks for your suggestion. With some tweak on the makefile about the TOOLCHAIN path and the INCLUDE it could be easy to do great stuff.

Just have to learn C... Back to school again.

Hope seeing some great open source project soon.

Keep innovating in a world where anything is still to be done.

Seeed,
Please, please, please make this a priority!!! I don't know any developer or maker that uses windows. Can you give a timeframe for when we can use Mac or Linux as dev environment?
