Buying Advice

I’m presently running Alexa with a Vera ZWave hub for home automation. I’m not happy about the inherent delays and intermittent failures, and have decided to switch to a cloudless local server model based on Raspberry Pi. The ReSpeaker microphones look ideal for my purpose, hopefully running something like SNIPS. I’m confused by the variety of ReSpeakers, though, and would appreciate some advice. I’d like the best far field response, but it looks like the 7 mic unit is discontinued, what is the best replacement for it? In addition, is the Core necessary, or just connect direct to the Pi?

This noob thanks you kindly in advance for any advice.

You can consider to use the respeaker mic array v2.0, which is the upgrade version of the http://wiki.seeedstudio.com/ReSpeaker_Mic_Array_v2.0/. you also can check respeaker introduction from http://wiki.seeedstudio.com/ReSpeaker/. thanks.
