Is it possible to remove the leds on the gprs v2 shield?

I am trying to achieve maximum power saving and I heard that the leds consume up to 15mA, so -> 2 leds less meaning up to 30mA of current saved.

if I remove them (using a soldering iron) will it damage anything? (as long as I have a steady hand and dont burn anything )

Removing their series resistors might be easier.
