Xbee shield Newsoftserial pins

Hi,

Probably an incredibly stupid question.
According to the Xbee shield page (garden.seeedstudio.com/index.php … %AE_Shield), it should connect to pins 11 and 12 for the Newsoftserial to work. However, on my Arduino it connects to digital pins 0 to 7.

Which pins should I use for the software serial connection?

hey Nicotine,

It is strange indeed! But I bet RX and TX pins for SoftSerial are 2 and 3 (or 3 and 2, don’t know for sure).

Even though I didn’t use the same shield for my tests try to read my post here (http://www.seeedstudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=2154) for more info.

I bet you can easily adapt that patch to your needs!

All the best,

Hi,

Thanks zws for your post, it’s very informative.
Once I get the bluetooth bee (DHL has already been two times at my door while I wasn’t at home) I will try to use pins 2 and 3.
It’s a mystery why different sources, including the original wiki, speak of pins 11 and 12 while the photo on that same page shows that these pins aren’t even connected…

Regards,
Nikotine

Follow-up message:
It has to be pins 11 and 12.
Took me some time to figure it out, but pins 11 and 12 are also connected to the ICSP pins where the xbee shield attaches to.
You can see this in the Arduino Uno schematic: arduino.cc/en/uploads/Main/ardui … ematic.pdf

I forgot about those pins  You are right!

All the best,
