connect Grove - WS2813 RGB LED Strip Waterproof - 60 LED/m - 1m SKU 104020109 to Seeeduino Lotus V1.1

I am a newbie and I wish to connect Grove - WS2813 RGB LED Strip Waterproof - 60 LED/m - 1m SKU 104020109 to Seeeduino Lotus V1.1. How can I achieve the 3.6A necessary for the max LED output and use only one power supply for the setup?

I understand that I need to connect it to an external power supply. As for my understanding I will need to cut the Groove connection as a result. I am lost and therefore can someone please provide me a scheme and an explanation. Thanks a lot.

Hi there~

Yes, you have to rework the grove cables. For the grove cables, there are 4 wires, red(5v), black(gnd), yellow(signal), white(not connected). So you have to connect the GND(black) and signal(yellow) to seeeduino lotus. Then you connect the GND(black) and VCC(red) to external 5V power supplier. Hope it helps.

Get a 5V and 3A USB adaptor and a short usb cable (3amp if you can find it).

Connect your LED 5v & GND to the 5v and GND on the Seeeduino Lotus V1.1 board. You shouldn’t be scared draining the power adaptor. This is not the solution for absolute maximal brightness, the voltage could drop a bit, but for me good enough. Just test it.

(I use the 3.3 volt power on a 30leds led strip and it works for 2 years 24/7)
