Grove Base Shield for ESP32 based Nodemcu

I think a similar Grove shield for ESP32 based development board (Nodemcu or other popular) like <LINK_TEXT text=“https://www.seeedstudio.com/Grove-Base- … -2513.html”>https://www.seeedstudio.com/Grove-Base-Shield-for-NodeMCU-p-2513.html</LINK_TEXT> could be useful.

Hi cselti,

ESP32 based Nodemcu is quite popular now, it is a good idea to make a new Grove shield for it. Thank you!

And not only popular - the ESP32 has better deep sleep, it has an accurate RTC, provides HW debugging, secure boot option, more computing power and of course Bluetooth communication. The ESP32’s price gets lower and lower, the SDK is stable over time.

The “only” problem to think about this base shield is that there are “variants” of the ESP32 NodeMCU - Some with 30 pins, others with 36, etc.

But yes, the idea is excellent!

The thingsforward.io guys have made an opensource prototype, that can be useful starting point: <LINK_TEXT text=“https://www.thingforward.io/techblog/20 … esp32.html”>https://www.thingforward.io/techblog/2018-03-09-building-our-own-base-shield-for-an-esp32.html</LINK_TEXT>
