Stalker v2 + Ethernet shield?

I'm planning out an Arduino system whose sole responsibility will be to acquire data via I2C or serial, timestamp it, log it on an SD card (in a text file), serve that text file via Ethernet and delete it on cue from a remote client. The whole thing needs to be battery powered as well (and no, i can...

Re: Rainbow cube questions (actually rainbowduino also)

How are you setting the pins? digitalWrite() isn't exactly the most efficient function (in fact, it takes something like 5-6 instructions for a SINGLE pin, if i remember correctly). Writing to pin registers (DDRD, PORTD, DDRB, PORTB) is much much faster. Edit: Argh, disregard, please. Apparently, i'...

Question about various firmwares...

Does any of the currently available 1st and 3rd party firmware have an already implemented I2C: 1) scrolling text (marquee) function 2) print word (as opposed to single character) function 3) whole frame bitmap upload via I2C (as opposed to a row mask) 4) support for multiple rainbowduinos/matrices ...

Re: Let's make a LCD, I mean seriously fantastic one.

Thanks :) I don't know much about LCD manufacture, but i'm guessing routing the electrode leads would be a problem, considering the number of segments and the way they overlap. BTW, just noticed i've missed "V". And now that i think about it, i'm not sure how to implement it and make it different en...

Re: Let's make a LCD, I mean seriously fantastic one.

How about an über-segment-display? Here's a quicky concept i've been playing with... http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1702513/segment_madness.jpg Of course, the number of segments per digit would make this completely unfeasible next to a dot matrix for any practical and economical use, but it would look cool...
