Error after update

Starting from the respeaker-debian-lqxt-sd-20180319-4gb image, doing

sudo apt update

sudo apt upgrade

results in the following error:

Processing triggers for initramfs-tools (0.130) …

ln: failed to create hard link ‘/boot/initrd.img-4.4.95-respeaker-r7.dpkg-bak’ => ‘/boot/initrd.img-4.4.95-respeaker-r7’: Operation not permitted

After this update, the system will not reboot correctly, in the sense that no serial device is presented on the OTG port and any previously-configured networks (either wifi or wired) are unavailable. I do not have a UART-to-USB adapter to test with so I cannot tell if the UART connection would work. Observation of the status lights, though, leads me to believe the system is stuck in a continuous reboot cycle.

The only recovery I’ve been able to find is to reburn the original image.

Do you have any suggestions?
